Lonta AI Publishes Free Workbook for Comparing Service Mix and Technician Capacity

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, October 18, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — Lonta AI has published a free service-mix and technician-capacity workbook for HVAC, plumbing and electrical business owners. The spreadsheet compares up to six service lines using the owner’s expected collections, variable costs, job counts and all-in technician-hours. It flags incomplete plans and workloads that exceed the available team hours entered by the user.

The workbook was added on October 15 to Lonta’s Home-Service Demand Study. Its planning inputs start blank. Owners enter their own figures for one qualified team pool and a defined time window; the national housing data do not populate the business plan.

An invented example illustrates the decision: $250 of contribution over two technician-hours equals $125 per hour, while $800 over ten hours equals $80 per hour. The larger contribution per job can consume more of a limited schedule. These are teaching inputs, not observed prices, client results or a recommendation to replace one service with another. Contribution is measured before fixed overhead, taxes and marketing, and is not profit.

The accompanying report is an original secondary analysis of the 2023 American Housing Survey, using the DataLumos 217661/V2 archival edition. It covers 28,192 occupied owner homes and eight selected improvement and replacement categories. The project window is the preceding 24 months at each interview, rather than calendar-year 2023.

One historical comparison shows why project counts and spending need separate denominators. For plumbing fixtures, projects classified as having most work performed outside the household account for an estimated 52.6% of projects and 74.8% of known reported outlays. The classification does not establish a verified paid contractor invoice. The report provides pointwise 90% uncertainty intervals and the underlying definitions.

The study does not estimate current local demand, contractor profit or advertising effectiveness. Routine maintenance and emergency-call outcomes are outside much of its project scope. Owners can use the findings to formulate a service hypothesis, then assess it against their own serviceable inquiries, collected contribution and available capacity.

The report and workbook are available without an email gate at https://lonta.io/research/home-service-demand/. The blank spreadsheet can also be downloaded directly at https://lonta.io/downloads/lonta-service-mix-v1.xlsx. The public source repository links methods, original figures and aggregate exports at https://github.com/artemsedin74/lonta-home-service-demand.

Raw survey household records are not redistributed with the public resources. No independent-review claim is made.

Lonta AI provides managed marketing services for HVAC, plumbing and electrical businesses. It publishes practical research and tools that owners can use when reviewing advertising, service mix and marketing reports. Website: https://lonta.io/.
