“Show Me Heaven”: One Woman’s Journey from Darkness to Light

LONDON, ENGLAND, October 31, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — What happens when a little girl, forgotten by the world, dares to survive the unimaginable? Show Me Heaven is the extraordinary true story of Donna Taylor, a woman who refused to be broken, even when life gave her every reason to fall apart.

In this raw and soul-stirring memoir, Taylor recounts a childhood marked by abandonment, poverty, and emotional trauma. After being left in a children’s home at the age of three and enduring years of instability and abuse, Donna’s early life reads like a tragic novel, except it’s all painfully real. Her path takes an even darker turn with the onset of severe mental illness and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder that threatens to consume her completely.

But Show Me Heaven is not a tale of despair; it’s a defiant song of survival. With brutal honesty, emotional clarity, and flashes of unexpected humour, Donna leads us through the shadows of psychotic breakdowns, social stigma, and fractured family ties. And then, slowly but powerfully, she shows us what healing can look like.

This is a story about choosing life when every instinct tells you to give up. It is about reclaiming identity after trauma and daring to hope again. Donna Taylor’s voice is as courageous as it is vulnerable, and her message is one of triumph against all odds.

Whether you’ve walked a similar path, supported a loved one through mental illness, or simply seek a deeply human story of resilience, Show Me Heaven is a book that will stay with you long after the final page.

About the Author
Donna Taylor is a financial advisor and mental health advocate living in Reading, Berkshire. Diagnosed with Bipolar 1 Affective Disorder, she now works at the very psychiatric hospital where she was once an inpatient, a powerful reflection of how far she has come.

Her life has been shaped by adversity: childhood poverty, homelessness, family trauma, and the ongoing challenges of mental illness. Through it all, Donna has remained determined to help others facing similar struggles, offering a voice of empathy, resilience, and understanding.

Show Me Heaven was written in honour of her beloved brother Mark, whose death in 2017 inspired her to tell her story. While the writing process was emotionally demanding, it also became a source of healing and strength.

Outside of her advocacy work, Donna enjoys life’s simple pleasures, spending time with loved ones, watching films, listening to music, and travelling to experience new cultures.
