Grants Awarded through the Papa Johns Foundation for Building Community

NEWARK, NJ, January 22, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Today, Papa Johns Pizza of Newark announced that the Papa Johns Foundation for Building Community has awarded $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Newark to help empower children to make good choices, sustain meaningful relationships with peers and caring adults, develop a positive self image and become productive members of the community.

In nearly 40 states across the United States the Papa Johns Foundation for Building Community is awarding $1.4 million to 270 organizations whose work supports the Foundation’s focus areas – youth leadership and entrepreneurship, food security and food waste reduction. Earlier this year, Papa Johns Pizza of Newark joined other Papa Johns franchisees in applying for grants to support the work of these organizations in their respective communities.

“These grants from The Papa Johns Foundation for Building Community are our latest effort to deliver on three of our company’s core values – People First, Do the Right Thing and Everyone Belongs,” said Rob Lynch, president and CEO of Papa Johns. “The work of organizations that build and empower the next generation of leaders, fight hunger and reduce food waste is critical to our world’s future. We are proud to partner with franchise owners such as Papa Johns Pizza of New Jersey to support our shared goals of building healthier, stronger communities and creating new opportunities for the people who live in them.”

“Boys & Girls Club of Newark has been thrilled to partner with Papa Johns for a number of years,” said Ameer Washington, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Newark. ” Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, with Papa Johns’ support, BGCN were able to grow our Trauma Informed Care practice and launch a Mental Health Clinic, transforming old classrooms to sensory counseling spaces. This allows us to provide direct one-on -one and group counseling support to our young people, their families, and members of the community. Everyone knows that diet is an essential component of overall health, and mental health is no different. Together with Papa Johns, we continue to also combat food insecurity by providing healthy meals and access to meals for families during engagement activities to increase family connections. We can’t thank Papa Johns enough for its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of youth and families in our community,” he added.
